The city of Jávea is divided into three parts: the Old city, the port and the beach. According to According to eyewitnesses this charming old town has not changed over the last century. Here, just like many years ago, the city boasts ancient churches and houses with iron balconies and geraniums. And in the port, in addition to fishing boats and yachts, you will find many good restaurants and bars.
The Spanish call this city the 'sunrise of Spain' because Cabo de la Nao is the easternmost point of the peninsular country and the local population is, in fact, is the first in mainland Spain to watch the sunrise.
Javea is a city with a rich history, it's one of the oldest cities in the Iberian Peninsula on the Costa Blanca.
The heart of Javea is in the old town, and is the beautiful gothic church of San Bartolome from the twelfth century, which at the time was not only a spiritual pillar in the town but a physical one as its walls protected them from pirate attacks.
The majority of the coast is occupied by the main beach which is called the Playa de Arenal which is a sandy beach. The other beaches are rocky beaches and this is why fans of the deep sea are attracted more by the latter, where the clear water is so cystal.
The National Park of Montgó was declared a natural park in 1987, and its 2,117,68 hectars and reaches a height of 753m above sea level. The most important protected aspect of the park is the unique flora in the reserve which has more than 600 species of plants, many of which are not seen anywhere else in the world. The fauna is also very diverse: along the pathways you will find a large number of small animals such as lizards, spiders, butterflies and small snakes. The birds here are also protected by the Marine Reserve and by ZEPIM. The park also has a marine zone of 175 hectars.
The park is the ideal place for those who love the fresh air with lots of hiking routes which are marked out with signs stating whether they are for walking or cycling.
We have the opportunity to stroll along the rocky areas or in the pine forests and we can stop at the viewpoints that offer stunning views of the city, the sea and the port.
We will leave Valencia early in the morning and go directly to the park. We will have a small hike to get away from city life and after we will go to Javea where we will spend some time in the town and then we will finish the day on the Playa de Arenal making the most of the white sand and blue sea.
