Oceanografic in the City of Arts and Sciences is an authentic marine park which encompasses the main seas and oceans of the planet. With more than 110,000m2 and 42 million litres of water (which is the equivalent of 15 olympic pools) it's the largest oceanarium in Europe.
It's an accurate vision of marine ecosystems and their great biodiversity, achieving the unique sensation of immersing oneself in the secrets of the ocean.
The Dolphinarium with a capacity for more than thirty specimens, was built for the display, maintenance and reproduction of a group of dolphins.
With a total of five pools, the dolphinarium is the most important at a European level. You can enjoy demonstrations of dolphin intelligence which are surprising and almost educational.
The designs of the spectacular decks, represent a hyperbolic paraboloid similar to a water lily, a posthumous work of the architect Felix Candela, that comes together in this large complex of innovative conception and exquisite aesthetics, which was built using the most modern technological advances and incorporating the latest knowledge on marine fauna and flora.
During the visit and along our route, we'll be able to learn about the behavior and lifestyle of more than 45,000 specimens of 500 different species. Some of the most interesting are sharks, beluga whales, walruses, dolphins, sea lions, penguins, stars, urchins, a variety of shellfish and fish as well as typical wetland birds, such as those living in the Albufera in Valencia.
- The entrance is in a group, but once inside you can visit it at your own pace if you want.
- The dolphin show at the dolphinarium has a set schedule and they close access 15 minutes before the start. Check the schedule when entering the Oceanografic.
- Within the enclosure there are several restaurants and bars in case you want to eat there.
