On the way back to Valencia we will go to Port Splaya, known for its beaches and strange houses it has acquired the name of "little Venice".
This town belongs to the municipity of Alboraya and is therefore know as the la cuna de la horchata (the birthplace of horchata - the famous Alborayan drink) thanks to the tigernut fields nearby.
La horchata is a refreshing drink or dessert thats made with water, sugar, and ground tigernuts, as well as tasty ingredients such as cinnamon and lemon zest. We will be able to try this typical drink in many of the bars here where it is called la horchateria.

Interesting fact: There is a tale that explains why this drink is called the Horchata (orxata in Valencian). The story has it that there was once a peasant who one day went to the king of Aragón, Jaime the first, "the conquerer" and took him a horchata.
The king liked the taste so much that he asked what it was and the man told him that it was tignernut milk. The king shouted ¡Esto no es leche, esto es oro, chata! meaning this is not milk, this is gold, in a glass! And now because of this play on words we call the drink the horchata.
