The Salto de Novia 'girlfriend jump' is one of the most beautiful areas in the Valencian community.
It is home to an incredible waterfall thats 60 metres high and a part of the river Palancia in the Navajas area.

It is easily accessible for everyone and perfect for tourists with swimming zones, and picnic areas making it the ideal place to spend a day with friends.

​It's waters are cold but crystal clear and it's a truly spectacular place!



According to tradition in this area, couples who want to get married should make the "salto de novia" (girlfriend jump) where the river is narrowest, and if they make it from one side to the other without tocuhing the water then this will bring them happiness and fertility in their future married life.

The legend has is that on one occasion the whole village gathered to watch a young girl make the jump before her upcoming wedding. Standing next to her boyfreind she started to run and make the jump but unluckily she fell into the river.



​But this isn't where her bad luck ended, because a whirpool began to form and inevitably started to drag her away, but upon seeing this her boyfriend jumped to her rescue/
​The tragedy unfolded before the astonished gaze of all thos watching when both were taken by the water and were never seen again.
​They were never found and a monument was buily in their honour in the streets of the town, and it's said that some nights you can still hear them complaining about ther bad fortune.

Nowadays ​the river and its waters don't pose any threats ​and they are one of the most visited placed among the well known and hidden areas of the Valencian Community.
