Montanejos with Hiking and Black Cave

MONTANEJOS: PARADISE 1 HOUR FROM VALENCIA​

​The waters have an constant temperature of 25ºC all year round (but bear in mind your body temperature is around 36ºC so the water won´t seem warm!) therefore the water is HYPOTHERMAL and its chemical composition is 700 mg / 1 sulfated mixed-magnesium bicarbonate, they are considered oligometalic with MEDIUM MINERALIZATION.

There is also some legend. It is said that the Moorish king Abu-Zayd brought the women from his harem to bathe in these waters, convinced that they gave them eternal youth. Some remains of these Arab baths from the 13th century can still be seen on the right bank of the river.

On this day trip we will do several things:​

The brave once will be able to bathe in the hypothermal springs, we will have a picnic, we will rest and, for those who want to, we will go hiking through the mountains (about 3 hours). We will also do another hiking route that is much shorter and will be to visit the Black Cave.

The hiking route gives us the opportunity to enjoy wonderful views of the town and the river, we will go through the mountains, then we will follow a path along the coast of the Mijares river that will take us to the stream that releases water at about 6000 liters per minute!

This trail is suitable for everyone, even though you have to be prepared and wear suitable shoes to walk a lot.
Another route that we will do at the end of the day is shorter but requires more attention and some skill. At the end of the route we will find a very large and interesting cave to explore (approximately 45 minutes).
